OSStaple™ & Barbed OSStaple™ (BOSS)
Description & Technology
The OSStaple™ is the only controllable heat-activated shape memory staple in the world. Made of Nitinol, the OSStaple provides compression by morphing from an open shape to a closed shape upon activation to a safe, non-necrotic temperature. The staple then stores heat energy to behave like a spring, maintaining a powerful compressive force at body temperature. The result is an implant that provides continuous compression through the active reduction of bone fragments throughout the healing process.
