David Baxendale was a co-founding partner of Tucker Capital and has been Managing Director since 1985, this following ten years at boutique investment banking firms in New York; including Ardshiel Associates and Tower Hall. During his tenure at Tucker, David has managed numerous acquisitions and divestitures that have included several comprehensive acquisition programs, and has provided financial and strategic advice for world-class companies as well as emerging-growth enterprises. David built the firm's practice in advising publishing companies and led the effort to create one of the largest supplemental education publishers in the U.S. through more than a dozen acquisitions. He also has substantial operating and management experience with client companies having served on a large number of operating boards and executive committees. For the past 15 years has served as Strategic and Financial Advisor to the National Geographic Society. Early in his career, David was Vice President of Strategic Planning for Johnson & Johnson and introduced the Strategic Planning approach that was ultimately adopted by J & J's operating companies. Along with John Cassis, David was instrumental in founding the Johnson & Johnson Development Corporation - the venture capital arm of Johnson & Johnson. He graduated with high honors in Economics from Harvard and holds an MBA in finance from Harvard Business School. David, who has a keen interest in the life and music of Johann Sebastian Bach, loves to cook, hike and ski and enjoys his children and grandchildren and the family dog, George.
John Cassis joined Cross Atlantic Partners in 1994 as a Managing Partner. He was formerly a Director of Salomon Brothers Venture Capital, which he joined in 1986 and headed from 1990 to 1994. From 1981 to 1986, he was President of Tower Hall, a development banking company he founded. From 1976 to 1981 he was a Managing Director of Ardshiel Associates, Inc. a merchant bank. In 1972, Mr. Cassis joined Johnson & Johnson where he had direct operating experience, founded the J&J Development Corporation, that firm's venture capital arm, and was J&J's Manager of Acquisitions. He served on the boards of directors of many companies, including IMPATH (Chairman), Dome Imaging Systems (Chairman), ILEX Oncology, NOMOS Corporation, Eximias Pharmaceuticals, and Galt Associates and currently holds directorships in Medivance, Nutrition 21, BioMedical Enterprises, LifeMed Media, and Medco Health Solutions. Mr. Cassis is a graduate of Harvard University (BA '70) and the Harvard Business School (MBA '72).
Alistair J. T. Clemow, PhD, has served as the Principal of Tanton Technologies, an independent consulting company providing strategic and technical assessment of new medical device opportunities for large, mid-cap and early stage development companies.
Since January 2003, Mr. Clemow has served as the President and CEO of Gelifex, Inc., a medical device company. From 1994 to June 2000, Mr. Clemow served at Johnson & Johnson in a variety of positions, including Vice President of Worldwide Business Development and Director of Research and Development for Johnson & Johnson Professional, Inc. and Johnson & Johnson Orthopedics. Mr. Clemow currently serves as a director of CG Surgical and Biomedical Enterprises. Mr. Clemow holds an M.B.A. in Finance from Columbia University and a Ph.D. and B.Sc. in Metallurgy from the University of Surrey in Guilford, England.
Mike Dwyer currently serves as the President, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Azaya Therapeutics, Inc. (Azaya). He also serves as the chairman of the board for the Startech Foundation in San Antonio. Startech is a technology commercialization center to assist researchers, inventors, entrepreneurs and emerging companies turn their innovations into commercial enterprises. He also serves on the boards of BioMedical Enterprises, Inc. an orthopedic medical device company, and the San Antonio Economic Development Corporation.
He has over 22 years of executive management experience in building, financing and managing emerging growth companies. Mike joined Azaya from Ingenix Pharmaceutical Services (i3 Research), a global contract research organization subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, where he served as senior vice president and chief administrative officer. I3 Research has more than 1,200 employees in 20 countries with clinical trials being conducted in more than 45 countries.
Prior to i3 Research, Mr. Dwyer held a number of executive management positions with ILEX Oncology, Inc. in San Antonio. He served as the Chief Financial Officer and assisted the Company in raising over $400 million in this role. He also served as the President and COO of ILEX's oncology contract research business. This business unit conducted oncology drug development studies for more than 50 biotechnology and pharmaceutical customers. Mr. Dwyer also co-managed a joint venture for ILEX that developed and obtained FDA approval of Campath® (alemtuzumab), a treatment for Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia.
Mike is a graduate of Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX with a BBA degree in accounting. He started his business career as a CPA and practiced as an audit partner for 16 years with an international accounting firm.
Don Hughes joined Camden Partners in 1997 and is a Partner and the Chief Financial Officer. He has over 25 years of experience working with and advising small public and private companies. Don serves as a resource to portfolio companies in the areas of accounting, financial reporting, SEC regulation and reporting, information systems and recruiting, among others. He serves or has served on the boards of Occupational Health + Rehabilitation Inc, Questar Assessment, Inc., New Horizons Worldwide, Inc., AgilQuest, Inc., MinSec Holdings, Inc. and BioMedical Enterprises, Inc. all of which are Camden Partners' portfolio companies.
Previously, Don served as Chief Financial Officer of Capstone Pharmacy Services, Inc., a public, small-cap institutional pharmacy services provider. He also spent 12 years as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Broventure Company, Inc., a closely-held investment company and family office, and 11 years in the audit division of Arthur Andersen LLP. Don has also previously served on the boards of several public and private growth companies, as well as, several not-for-profit groups and currently serves on the Board of the Maryland Food Bank.
Don earned a B.A. degree from Lycoming College, an M.S.F. degree from Loyola University Maryland and is a Certified Public Accountant.
Richard M. Johnston has been Chairman of the Board of Camden Partners, Inc. since April 2000 and a Managing Member of Camden Partners Holdings, LLC since February of 2002. He has over 40 years of investment experience and is focused primarily on investments in the health care sector. He serves as Chairman of the Boards of Atricure, Inc., BME (BioMedical Enterprises, Inc.) and Picis and as a Director of Liposcience, Inc., Lombard Medical Technologies PLC, Medivance Inc., Wedmedx, Inc. and XLNT Veterinary Care, Inc., all of which are Camden Portfolio companies.
Previously, Dick was Vice President of Investments and a Director of The Hillman Company, an investment holding company with diversified operations, where he was employed from 1961 to 2000. Beginning in June 1970, he was responsible for deal origination and investor representative relations with numerous private equity financings, including HBO, Medical Care International and Rehab Services among many others in healthcare; Dial Page, Nextel, and Brooks Fiber among many others in telecommunications services together with a variety of other investments in capital goods, equipment rental and information technology. Additionally, Dick managed marketable securities portfolios for Hillman entities, including small-cap portfolios, and originated and/or monitored limited partnership holdings in numerous private equity funds including Brentwood Associates, Ferrer Freeman, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, Columbia Capital, Technology Crossover and Crosslink. He has been an Advisor to several private equity funds, including Bridge Capital, Health Care Capital Partners and T. Rowe Price Threshold Funds. He was Chairman of the Boards of The Western Pennsylvania Hospital from 1979 to 1999 and The Western Pennsylvania Healthcare System from 1984 to 2000, and was Chairman of the Board of West Penn Allegheny Health System upon its founding in 2000.

Keith Peeples, brings to BME over 25 years experience in sales, marketing, and sales training in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining BME he was Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Advanced Bio-Surfaces, Inc., an orthopedic company which manufactures an interpositional knee implant system. From 1999 to 2006, Mr. Peeples was Vice President of Sales at The ASC Network, which offers a supply solution to physician-owned or procedure-based centers. From 1995-1998, Mr. Peeples was Director of Sales for North and South America at Medtronic/InStent, a provider of self expanding Nitinol stents for gastroenterology, urology, radiology, and peripheral vascular procedures. Mr. Peeples also worked as the Western Regional Sales Manager and as an independent sales representative with Pentax Precision Instrument Corp., a provider of flexible endoscopes, from 1981 to 1995. Mr. Peeples has a B.A. in Biology from the Washington University in St. Louis, MO.
