OSStaple™

The Highest Performance

Part of the most advanced orthopaedic shape memory fixation system available, the OSStaple™ compresses bone at the time of surgery and continues to provide long-term active reduction of bone fragments to maximize bone union.

Quick & Easy MIS Technique

BME's OSSforce™ Fixation System's simple instrumentation and minimally invasive approach is faster than traditional fixation methods, significantly reducing time in the O.R.

Controllable Compression

BME offers the ONLY controllable shape memory bone implants on the market, a significant advantage in cases involving questionable bone quality.

Residual Compression

BME implants not only provide compression at the time of surgery, but maintain compressive forces long-term.  The result is a family of extraordinary devices that play to Wolff's Law while promoting an optimal healing environment.

Stable Construct

Once activated, our implants' Nitinol material becomes over 20% stronger than 316L stainless steel.  In addition, they offer four points of fixation, even compression across the fusion interface, and the ability to combine multiple implants at varying angles to create rigid three-dimensional constructs.

100% Bone Interface Available for Fusion Our staple configuration ensures that nothing interferes with the bone-to-bone interface.

Name the Compression

BME's OSStaple™ implants are the only orthopedic medical devices that allow the surgeon to know how much compression is being achieved.   The unique relationship between the OSSforce™ Implant Controller's time and power settings and resulting residual compression forces is illustrated on the back of every new OSStaple™ implant package.

What You See is What You Get

BME's implants are activated at the surgeon's discretion allowing the verification of fusion stability prior to wound closure.  This is in stark contrast to body temperature-activated implants that may not reach full compressive forces until long AFTER wound closure and tourniquet release.

Patient Safety

Each BME implant has a designated maximum OSSforce™ Implant Controller time and power setting.  These settings ensure that implant temperatures remain below the level of tissue thermal necrosis, eliminating the guesswork common with electrocautery-heated implants.

Sizes Galore

The number of implant sizes of our OSStaple™ line alone trumps the competition, let alone the ever-increasing number of Step OSStaple™ and OSSArc™ sizes.  And if that isn¹t enough, we have more ideas up our sleeves.

A Trusted Name

We began over 15 years ago as a bone healing research company working in collaboration with the biggest names in the orthopaedic medical device industry.  Today, BME is making history as the only company with an FDA-approved controllable Nitinol spine staple.
